QUESTION: Just as a follow up which I think I mentioned previously, but there are no exceptions are there? The dars mentioned there are no exceptions as well and just wanted to double check. Because in my culture it is widespread amongst the community that only the blood children of the mum which are younger than the breastfed child become siblings through breastfeeding. Not older ones. So just wanted clarification supported with evidence that there are no exceptions and all relatives of the mum become relatives of the breastfed child. For my own understanding and to advise family relatives إن شاء الله
ANSWER:
No, there are no exceptions. What you mentioned is a common misconception. What's correct is that all the children of the milk-mother become mahram—whether they are current, previous, or even yet to be born.
This is supported by the hadiths of ʿĀ’ishah and Ibn ʿAbbās, which were mentioned in class.
