If free-mixing is αΈ€arΔm then we can't go αΈ€ajj!
Free-mixing may be categorised into two types:
1. Avoidable free-mixing -> This is Haraam
2. Unavoidable free-mixing -> This is allowed with conditions:
a- one resorts to this due to a dire need (dharoorah)
b- it has to fulfil the intended objective and not something probable
c- there are no better alternatives
d- one fears Allah to the best of their ability and takes precautions to avoid fitnah, such as lowering the gaze, self-restraint, etc.
e- this allowance must not exceed the intended need
Examples of the first type:
Free mixed weddings, events, lectures, institutes, unnecessary shopping in free-mixed malls, etc.
Examples of the second type:
Using the public transport, essential shopping, hospital appointments, women giving testimony in court, hajj and tawaaf, walking on the road, etc.
