In the book: [منافع الأعشاب والخضار وفوائده الطبية] "The Benefits of Herbs and Vegetables and Their Medical Uses" by Wadiee’ Jabr, it says: "Nutmeg comes from cone-shaped trees that grow up to about ten meters tall. The fruit is round and has yellow, apricot-like skin. Benefits: Nutmeg is a mild stimulant that helps get rid of gas in the stomach. In large amounts, it can have a numbing effect and may even be poisonous. It smells nice and tastes slightly bitter. The fruit has dry, fragrant skins that are sold in stores. A yellowish oily substance called nutmeg butter is made from nutmeg. This butter contains about 4% of a drug-like substance called myristicin, and the rest is made of fats from different acids like: nutmeg acid, fatty acid, and palmitic acid. Nutmeg butter is used in making perfumes, sweets, some foods, and soap. Nutmeg was also known and used by the ancient Egyptians and Phoenicians." [End of quote] If nutmeg has around 4% of an intoxicating substance, then it should be avoided. ’Abdullāh ibn ’Umar (may Allāh be pleased with him) said the Prophet ﷺ said: ((كل مسكر حرام، وما أسكر كثيره فقليله حرام)). "Every intoxicant is forbidden. If a large amount makes you drunk, then even a small amount is forbidden." [Sahih Ibn Majah 2736. Also see Al-Irwā' 2373 and 2375]
