Is It Permissible for Women to Wear Fragrance If They Remain in the Car? The questioner says: A woman states that she leaves her house to go to her family’s house by car while wearing perfume. Does the ruling in the hadith apply to her, which says: "Any woman who applies perfume and passes by people so that they may smell her fragrance is a fornicator"? Sheikh Yahya hafidahullah: A woman should not leave her house wearing perfume, even if she is in a car, as she may need to step out for some reason—such as entering her family's home or the like—and her scent may become noticeable. Therefore, she should not go out wearing perfume, in accordance with the hadith: ((وليخرجن تفلات)) "Let them go out unperfumed (without fragrance)."
