He was so devoted to writing hadith that he had no time to eat ‘Ammār ibn Rajā’ said: I heard ‘Ubayd ibn Ya‘eesh say: «أقمت ثلاثين سنة، ما أكلت بيدي بالليل. كانت أختي تلقمني، وأنا أكتب» “I spent thirty years during which I never ate with my own hand at night.
