My Co-wife is a Jinn Question: A man proposed to a woman and concluded the marriage contract with her. After the contract, he informed her that he is married to a jinn wife. The sister asks: What should I do, and what is your advice? Am I entitled to request a khulʿ (divorce initiated by the wife)? Sheikh Yahya hafidahullah: Yes, she has the right to request a khulʿ. He has deceived her—especially if she does not wish to be a co-wife to a jinn. This constitutes deception, and thus she is entitled to seek khulʿ and free herself. In fact, due to the deception involved, khulʿ would be the most appropriate course of action.
