If a woman takes a regular shower after menses, without the intention for ghusl, is she allowed to engage in sexual intercourse with her husband? Sheikh ’AbdulKhāliq Al-’Imād αΈ₯afidhahullāh said: If a woman's menstrual bleeding stops and she washes herself from the angle of cleaning herself, this does not suffice for the Ghusl of uplifting major ritual impurity (after menstruation). Rather, she has to intend to make ghusl for menstruation the same way she has to make intention for Ghusl janaabah (sexual impurity). Thereafter she can begin praying and her husband is allowed to come to her (i.e. They can engage in sexual intercourse). But if she takes a wash from the angle of cleaning herself, it is not permissible for him to have intercourse with her, because Allāh Almighty said: {ΨΨͺΩ‰ ΩŠΨ·Ω‡Ψ±Ω†} β€œuntil they become pure (from menses),” {فΨ₯Ψ°Ψ§ ΨͺΨ·Ω‡Ψ±Ω†...} β€œso when they purify themselves, approach them...,” and the word β€œΨͺطهرن” means β€œto perform Ghusl,” according to the consensus.
