The Validity of Combining Oath Expiation with Feeding Fasting Individuals Question: If one provides food to fasting individuals at home and intends it as expiation for an oath, will this be valid? And will they also receive the reward for feeding a fasting person? Sheikh Muhammad Al-'Ansi hafidahullāh responds: In such a case, combining both intentions is permissible. It is allowed to provide food to ten needy individuals as expiation for an oath, and if they happen to be fasting, you will attain both rewards: fulfilling the expiation and feeding those who are fasting. And Allāh knows best.
