Who Is Responsible for Paying Zakah on Borrowed Gold? A woman says: I have gold belonging to my sister that I wear, and I will return it in the future when I get married. Is the Zakah my responsibility or hers? Sheikh ’Adnān Al-MaαΉ£qari αΈ₯afidhahullāh: The Zakat is the responsibility of the owner of the gold. Zakat is due on the one who owns the gold, unless she cooperates with her sister and [voluntarily] pays the Zakat on her sister's gold. Even a husband can pay the Zakat on his wife's gold, and it is permissible to delegate someone in paying off Zakat. @womensbenefits
