Reconciliation of a Woman with Her Husband After Separation through Khul’ Question: If a woman has separated from her husband through khul‘ (divorce initiated by the wife), is she allowed to return to him? Sheikh Abu ’Amr ’Abdulkareem Al-Hajoori ḥafidhahullāh: If the reason for separation was not due to his religiosity, such as negligence in prayer, engaging in innovations, or persistent sinful behaviour; if she left him due to these reasons and he has since repented, it is fine. However, if she left him due to shortcomings in financial matters or other similar issues, there is no issue in her returning. However, she returns to him with a new marriage contract and a new dowry.
