How to Make the Most of a Sisters-Only Conference 1⃣ Seek Permission: Sisters should ask their husbands for permission if applicable, and brothers really shouldn’t stop them from attending these beautiful, beneficial gatherings—no free mixing, no photos, just solid Salafi reminders in a safe space. And bonus: free entry and refreshments! 2⃣ Travelling? Bring a mahram: If the venue is far enough to be considered travel-distance, a mahram should accompany you. Can’t manage that? No worries—in shā’ Allāh, you can tune in live from home and still benefit. 3⃣ Going local? Team up: If it’s a short trip, no mahram needed. But for safety—especially if you’ll be heading back after dark—it’s best to go with a group of sisters. 4⃣ Keep it calm: Conferences are for reflection and learning, and that needs a calm environment. Parents, please plan ahead—if your little ones are likely to cause disruption, try to arrange childcare. It helps everyone focus and benefit. 5⃣ Come ready to learn: Notebook, pen—simple tools that help you concentrate and remember what you hear. 6⃣ Double the reward: Don’t just intend to learn. Also intend to visit your sisters for the sake of Allah—it’s a beautiful act of worship! The Prophet ﷺ said that Allah says: “My love is due to those who love one another for My sake, visit one another for My sake, and spend for My sake.” [Muwatta’ Mālik with an authentic chain] And in another hadith: A man visited his brother purely for Allah’s sake. Allah sent an angel to tell him: “Allah loves you as you love your brother for His sake.” [Sahih Muslim] 🔺 NOTE: That doesn’t mean chatting during the talks—save the catch-ups for the breaks! 7⃣ Be warm and welcoming: If you spot someone new or a sister who’s just starting out in her journey, make her feel included. A smile, a kind word—it might mean more than you know. 8⃣ Respect the masjid: If the event’s in a masjid, observe its etiquettes: no loud talking, no buying/selling, pray two rakʿahs when you enter (Tahiyyatul-Masjid), and keep things clean. Avoid strong smells—garlic, onions, or anything else that might bother others. 🔺 And yes, according to the stronger view, sisters can enter the masjid during their menses—so don’t let that stop you from attending. @womensbenefits
