Breastfeeding a child inside prayer
Ibn Rajab raḥimahullāh relayed in Fat-ḥ Al-Bāri that: both Ḥasan Al-Baṣri and Ibrāhīm An-Nakha’ē saw it permissible for a woman to breastfeed her child inside Ṣalāh, and that doing so does not invalidate the Ṣalāh.
[see his explanation on ḥadīth number 516 pertaining to the Prophet ﷺ carrying his granddaughter Umāmah during Ṣalāh]
🔺Note: Sheikh Yaḥya ḥafidhahullāh mentioned that this is an issue of differing amongst the scholars, but this (the view of Ḥasan Al-Baṣri and Ibrāhīm An-Nakha’ē) is the stronger opinion. He also said, a woman should only do this if:
(1) there's a need to do so
(2) the child is close to her
(3) it doesn't busy her from the Ṣalāh
[(4) addition from me] - although she is allowed to expose her breast in order to attach the child to it, she should not leave it exposed unnecessarily.
