Boycotting does not constitute divorce Question: A woman whose husband boycotted her for five years, then passed away after those five years, is still still necessary for her to observe the waiting period (’iddah)? Sheikh Abdulhameed Az-Zu'kari αΈ₯afidhahullāh: It is necessary for her to observe the waiting period (’iddah) and she is entitled to inheritance, as long as he had not divorced her. { ΩˆΩŽΩ±Ω„Ω‘ΩŽΨ°ΩΫŒΩ†ΩŽ یُΨͺΩŽΩˆΩŽΩΩ‘ΩŽΩˆΫ‘Ω†ΩŽ مِنكُمۑ ΩˆΩŽΫŒΩŽΨ°ΩŽΨ±ΩΩˆΩ†ΩŽ Ψ£ΩŽΨ²Ϋ‘ΩˆΩŽβ€ŠΩ°β Ψ¬ΰ£°Ψ§ یَΨͺΩŽΨ±ΩŽΨ¨Ω‘ΩŽΨ΅Ϋ‘Ω†ΩŽ Ψ¨ΩΨ£ΩŽΩ†ΩΩΨ³ΩΩ‡ΩΩ†Ω‘ΩŽ أَرۑبَعَةَ Ψ£ΩŽΨ΄Ϋ‘Ω‡ΩΨ±ΰ£² وَعَشۑرࣰا} "As for those of you who die and leave widows behind, let them observe a waiting period of four months and ten days" [Surah Al-Baqarah: 234]. This Δ€yah is general to all women. It is surprising that some women, when they have a dispute with their husbands and he either divorces them or passes away, they are married off before the waiting period has ended. This is due to ignorance. @womensbenefits
