Accustom girls to wearing Hijab in a manner that is not counterproductive Sheikh Sulaymān Ar-Ruhayli, waffaqahullāh said: "It is obligatory for a father to accustom his daughter to wearing the hijab when she reaches an age where she comprehends this. However, this should not be done in a manner that makes her resent the hijab, as that would be counterproductive. If the girl reaches a size or age where there is fear for her safety when she goes to school or goes out in public, the father must command her to wear the hijab, even if she has not yet reached the age at which it is obligatory.
