Imฤm Ibnul Qayyim raแธฅimahullฤh mentioned some beautiful speech in his book:
"ุงูุฌูุงุจ ุงููุงูู ูู
ู ุณุฃู ุนู ุงูุฏูุงุก ุงูุดุงูู"
concerning love of images and the heart's attachment to images; beautiful speech, refer to it.
[Student] What about sisters looking at scholars?
[Sheikh Najeeb] it's not befitting. However, a woman is allowed to look at a man provided that:
1. There's a need to do so, and
2. There's no temptation.
If one of these conditions is not met, then it is forbidden.
Some women lose interest in their husband when they watch actors on TV.
Likewise, there was a woman who used to follow Al-Areefi's lectures up until she fell in love with him, so she called someone and said, โPray to Allah that He allows me to get married to Al-Areefi.โ The person enquired, โfor his knowledge or beauty?โ She said, โhis knowledge.โ The person said, โI ask Allah to marry you to so-and-so (another scholar who wasn't as good looking), for he is more knowledgeable than Al-Areefi.โ
