When a Wife Claims Divorce but the Husband Denies It
Question:
A manβs wife claims that he divorced her, but he denies that he ever did so.
What is the Islamic ruling on this? Is the divorce considered valid, especially considering that the wife has been living in her father's house for one year?

The husband's word is accepted. However, if the wife is certain that he did divorce her and her husband is lying, then she should seek khulΚΏ (a divorce initiated by the wife), because otherwise they would be living together in an unlawful marriage.
