𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻'𝘀 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗳𝗶𝘁𝘀 (148)

Seeking permission before entering upon people Ibn Mas’ūd رضي الله عنه said: عَلَيْكُمْ أَنْ تَسْتَأْذِنُوا عَلَى أُمَّهَاتِكُمْ وَأَخَوَاتِكُمْ. “It is upon you to take permission when entering upon your mothers and your sisters.” On the authority of ’Adiyy ibn Thābit: A woman from the Anṣār said to the Messenger ﷺ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي أَكُونُ فِي مَنْزِلِي عَلَى الْحَالِ الَّتِي لَا أُحِبُّ أَنْ يَرَانِي أحد عليها لا وَالِدٌ وَلَا وَلَدٌ، وَإِنَّهُ لَا يَزَالُ يَدْخُلُ عَلَيَّ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِي وَأَنَا عَلَى تِلْكَ الْحَالِ. “O Messenger of Allah, sometimes I am in a state at home in which I do not like anyone to see me in, not my father nor my sons, but men amongst my relatives keep walking in on me while I am in that state.” So the following Āyah was revealed: ﴿يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لا تَدْخُلُوا بُيُوتاً...الآية﴾ “O you who believe!
