Circumcision and Shaving a baby girl's head Sheikh ’Abdul-’Azīz ibn Bāz raḥimahullāh said: “The Sunnah is for the baby boy's head to be shaved when he is given his name on the seventh day (after his birth). The baby girl's head should not be shaved. The Prophet ﷺ said: “Every ghulām (i.e: baby boy) is held at ransom until their ’aqīqah (is done) on the seventh day, the animal should be slaughtered, the head should be shaved, and the name should be given.” [It is reported by al-Imām Aḥmad, and the compilers of the Sunan (ie: Abū Dāwūd, al-Tirmiḏī, Ibn Mājah and al-Nasāʿī) and the chain of narration is Ḥasan] As far as circumcision for a female child then it is mustaḥḥab (recommended) and it is not wājib (obligatory), and this is due to the generality of the ḥadīths. Such as the Prophet ﷺ's statement: “Five practices are from the fiṭrah (natural disposition): circumcision), shaving the pubic areas, plucking the armpits, trimming the nails, and trimming the mustache.” This (ḥadīth) is agreed upon in its authenticity.” [Majmūʿ Al-Fatāwa, 10/48] ➡️@womensbenefits
