Does Natural Vaginal Moisture/Discharge Invalidate Wuḍūʾ? Shaykh Ibn ʿUthaymīn rahimahullah said in Ash-Sharḥ al-Mumtiʿ (1/392): As for anything that comes out through the urinary passage, it does invalidate wuḍūʾ, because it is apparently from the bladder. As for the natural moisture that comes out through the vaginal passage, the majority of scholars held that it does invalidate wuḍūʾ, while Ibn Ḥazm said that it does not, arguing that it is neither urine nor semen, and that anyone who says it invalidates wuḍūʾ must provide evidence. He compared it to other natural bodily secretions. Shaykh Ibn ʿUthaymīn, however, preferred the view of the majority. He said: "Saying that it invalidates wuḍūʾ is easier than saying that the moisture itself is impure. If this moisture is continuous, then its ruling is like that of a person with continuous urinary leakage. A woman should make wuḍūʾ for each obligatory prayer after its time begins, take reasonable measures to keep herself clean, and then pray. Anything that comes out afterward does not affect her prayer. If the moisture stops at a known time before the prayer time ends, then she should wait until it stops, make wuḍūʾ, and then pray." [end of quote] Similarly, Shaykh Ibn Bāz rahimahullah said in Majmūʿ Fatāwā (10/130): "If this moisture is present most of the time, then the woman should make wuḍūʾ for each prayer after its time begins, just like a woman with istiḥāḍah (non-menstrual bleeding) or someone with continuous urinary leakage. However, if the moisture only occurs occasionally and is not continuous, then it has the same ruling as urine. Whenever it appears, it invalidates wuḍūʾ, even if it occurs during the prayer." [end of quote] He also said (Majmūʿ Fatāwā 10/131): "Everything that comes out from the private parts in the form of fluids invalidates wuḍūʾ for both men and women." He then cited the statement of the Prophet ﷺ: "Allah does not accept the prayer of one of you if he breaks his state of purification until he performs wuḍūʾ."
