He Found Out That She's Not A Virgin The man who marries a virgin woman and then discovers that she is not (actually a virgin), should he hide this and what should he do? Sheikh Muqbil ibn Hādī Al-Wādiʿī rahimahullah said: “This is a very good question, very important [matter]. For it may be that people are adhering to pre-Islāmic way in this. It should be known that the scholars, even the doctors, have cited causes for deterioration of the hymen. It could be from jumping, or having her back stepped on, or due to heavy periods. There are many causes. It may have been while playing with boys when she was still child; not yet accountable. The man who marries a virgin woman and then does not find her a virgin faces several situations; if he is knowledgeable and can bear it, and can find excuses for her, then he does so. Otherwise, it is obligatory for him to conceal her. The Prophet ﷺ said: “Whoever covers (the defects of) a Muslim, Allah will cover him.” He is forbidden! He is forbidden to propagate this among people that she is no longer a virgin. Because it may have come from something other than fornication.
