Ruling On Women Dancing At Weddings Sheikh ’AbdulʿAzīz ibn Bāz raḥimahullāh said: “There is no harm in women dancing only among themselves where there is no mixing with men (nor their presence). There is no problem in dancing. I know of no objection. And likewise normal and traditional songs (without music) in praise of the husband or the wife, or the family of the husband and wife; as long as the songs are not immoral or lewd, or call to wrongdoing or to love of wrongful actions. Sheikh ’Uthaymīn raḥimahullāh said: “Dancing is makrūh (ie: disliked) even in front of other women. Disturbing things have reached us (about what happens amongst some women) where some women are nimble in their movements and cause fitnah and desires in the hearts of other women who are present. To such an extent that it has reached me that some women get up and embrace the dancer and start to kiss her.
