Men Suffer Abuse Too A lot of people don’t think domestic abuse can happen to men. You might laugh, but domestic violence towards men is a real thing. A partner may start by testing the waters to see if they can get away with certain things. Spitting… If they get away with that, they might start yelling. If they get away with that, they might start hitting. If they get away with that, they might start smashing the other person’s property. Until eventually, when the person can’t take the abuse anymore, they decide they’re going to leave—and the abuser stands between them and the exit route. The option of fight or flight is narrowed down to self-defence or continue getting abused. You dare lay a finger on them, and they’re calling their uncle (old bill) on you.
