Fake Eyelashes Question: May Allah bless you, our respected Shaykh. Umm Mu'aadh from Riyadh asks: What is the ruling on using fake eyelashes for beautification in front of one’s husband? Sheikh 'Uthaymin rahimahullah: Fake eyelashes are not permissible, because they resemble hair extensions — that is, adding hair to one’s own hair. The Prophet ﷺ cursed the one who attaches hair and the one who asks for it to be attached. If these eyelashes are as I imagine — black strands resembling hair placed on the lashes to make them appear fuller and enhance the beauty of the eyes — then this is a type of hair extension, and the Prophet ﷺ cursed the woman who does this with her the hair on her head.
