Does Pregnancy Bleeding Break the Fast? Question: A woman in the eighth month of pregnancy experiences bleeding. Does this affect her fasting? Sheikh Rashad Adh-Dhali'ee: If the bleeding means that labour has begunβ€”that is, it comes with labour pains (contractions) and she is going to give birth in the eighth monthβ€”then it does affect her fasting. In this case, the fast becomes invalid, because the bleeding is connected to childbirth and she will give birth afterward. However, if the bleeding is not accompanied by labour pains, but instead happens when she moves, works, or stands a lot, and some blood comes out, then it does not affect her fasting.
