How a Deceased Woman Is Purified When Only Men Are Present
Malik reported in his Muwatta that he heard the people of knowledge say:
إذا ماتت المرأة وليس معها نساء يغسلنها ولا من ذوي المحرم أحد يلي ذلك منها ولا زوج يلي ذلك منها يممت فمسح بوجهها وكفيها من الصعيد.
“If a woman dies and there are no women present to wash her, and none of her mahram relatives or her husband is there to take care of it, then tayammum should be performed for her. Her face and hands are wiped with clean earth.”
Reflection: Even though a deceased woman is not desired by people of sound nature, her body usually begins to change (in colour or smell) after death, and she is often not young, despite this, it is still not permissible to remove her clothing and wash her body when only unrelated men are present.
