If a menstruating woman becomes pure before dawn but does not perform ghusl in time, can she still fast? Sheikh Ibn Baz rahimahullah said: Her fast is valid if she is certain that her period ended before dawn. The important thing is that the woman must be sure that she has become pure, because some women think their period has ended when it actually has not. For this reason, women used to bring pieces of cotton to Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) to show signs of purity, and she would say to them: β€œDo not rush until you see the white discharge.” So a woman should wait until she is certain that her period has ended. Once she is sure, she can intend to fastβ€”even if she does not perform ghusl until after dawn. However, she must still pay attention to the prayer and should perform ghusl quickly so that she can pray Fajr on time. We have heard that some women become pure before dawn but delay ghusl until after sunrise, saying they want to perform a more complete and cleaner bath. This is incorrect, whether in Ramadan or at other times, because she must hurry to perform ghusl so she can pray on time. She may perform the minimum required bath to pray, and if she wants to clean herself more thoroughly after sunrise, there is no problem with that. The same ruling applies to someone in a state of major impurity (janabah) who does not perform ghusl until after dawn: there is no problem, and the fast is still valid. Likewise, if a man is in a state of janabah and does not perform ghusl until after dawn while fasting, there is no problem with that. This is because it is authentically reported that the Prophet ο·Ί would sometimes reach dawn while in a state of janabah from his wives, and then he would get up and perform ghusl after dawn. And Allah knows best. [Majmuβ€˜ Fatawa wa Maqalat Ash-Shaykh Ibn Baz, 15/190] Source: https://t.me/womensbenefits/1509
