Menstruation is something Allah has decreed for the daughters of Adam Question Is it allowed for a menstruating woman to pray? And what if she prays out of shyness? Shaykh Ibn ΚΏUthaymeen (may Allah have mercy on him): The prayer of a menstruating woman is not allowed. The Prophet ο·Ί said in the hadith of Abu Saβ€˜eed (may Allah be pleased with him): β€œIs it not true that when she menstruates, she does not pray or fast?” This hadith is authentic and recorded in Al-Bukhari and Muslim. So a menstruating woman must not pray. Prayer is forbidden for her during this time, and if she prays, it is not valid. She is also not required to make up the missed prayers later. β€˜Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: β€œWe were commanded to make up the fasts, but we were not commanded to make up the prayers.” Praying out of shyness is also forbidden. She is not allowed to pray while she is menstruating. She is also not allowed to pray after her period ends until she performs ghusl (the full ritual bath). If she does not have water, she should perform tayammum (dry purification) and pray until she finds water, then she must perform ghusl.
