What is the sign of Istikhārah? Sheikh Sa’d Al-Khathlān ḥafidhahullāh states: "...This is an important point. Some people think that the sign of istikhārah is feeling more comfortable with one option over the other, but this is not correct. Feeling at ease or leaning toward one choice may not be because of istikhārah at all. It can come from psychological factors or from personal impressions already in the mind. A person may think, “This option is like this,” and “That option is like that,” so they naturally lean toward one because of their mental impressions and emotional state. So what is the real sign of istikhārah? The sign of istikhārah is that a person takes all the proper steps: they make an effort, seek advice, do everything they can, and then pray istikhārah to Allāh. After that, they move forward with the option that seems to have more benefit. If this option becomes easy and goes smoothly, this is a sign that it is good. If it does not work out and becomes difficult, then this is a sign that the other option is better. This is very important because some people misunderstand this issue. For example, a suitable man proposes to a woman—he has good character and good religion, and there is nothing wrong with him—but she says, “I prayed istikhārah and I didn’t feel comfortable.” But why didn’t she feel comfortable? That feeling may come from mental impressions or psychological reasons. If she has taken all the proper steps and asked about him, and he is good in religion and character, then she should accept. If it is good for her, Allāh will make it easy. If it is bad, Allāh will turn it away from her through the istikhārah. The same applies to all other matters. So the sign of istikhārah is that one option becomes easy while the other does not. If you go forward with something and it becomes easy, this is a sign that it is good. If you go forward and it becomes difficult, this is a sign that the good lies in something else. Source: https://t.me/womensbenefits/1438
