Clarifying the Age of Marriage in Islam Sheikh แนขฤliแธฅ Al-Fawzฤn แธฅafidhahullฤh states: They want, through this, to place obstacles in the path of marriage and to allow women to pursue whatever they desire; because marriage, in their view, restricts women and confines them to the home in obedience to their husbands. They want women to be free. They say that the age of marriage for women should be set at eighteen! Eighteen! At eighteen, a woman has passed puberty and has passed the usual age of marriage without being married. They desire this. But who determined eighteen years? The Prophet ๏ทบ was married to โ€™ฤ€'ishah when she was six years old, and he consummated the marriage when she was nine, and he is the Master of Humanity, may Allฤhโ€™s peace and blessings be upon him. Allฤh Almighty, in the Qur'ฤn, set the waiting period for women who do not menstruate due to being young to three months, the same as for postmenopausal women: "And those of your women who have despaired of menstruationโ€”if you doubt, their waiting period is three months; and [also] those who have not menstruated..." [65:4] The waiting period for young girls is also three months if they are divorced before reaching the age of menstruation. This indicates that marriage of young girls is validโ€”it is correct. This is explicitly stated in the Book of Allฤh, Almighty. They deny what has been established in the Sunnah of the Prophet ๏ทบ and what is clearly stated in the Book of Allฤh, as clear as the midday sun. Their aim in this is to release women into a false freedom, which is, in reality, an injustice to women and a distortion of their role. We must be alert to their plots, their statements, and what they truly desire. Source: https://t.me/womensbenefits/1408
