Loving a Man Before Marriage Question: Your Eminence, is it permissible for a woman to love a person with the intention of marrying him? Sheikh Ibn Baz rahimahullah: There is no harm in such love, whether it is love for him for the sake of Allāh, or love because she desires to marry him for valid reasons—such as family connection, shared religion, or other legitimate causes. However, she must not act with him in any way that Allāh has forbidden. Rather, she may pursue marriage with him if he is a pious, good, and respectable person. It is permissible to seek marriage through legitimate, Shariah-compliant means, without being in seclusion with him, until the marriage is completed.
