It Is Not Permissible for a Woman to Ask for Her Sisterβs Divorce
It is reported from Abu Hurayrah (may AllΔh be pleased with him) that the Prophet ο·Ί said:
βIt is not permissible for a woman to ask for her sisterβs divorce in order to claim her share; for she only has what has been decreed for her.β (Agreed upon)
Commentary:
The Shari'ah has regulated dealings among people in buying and selling, clearly outlining necessary rules to prevent disputes, ignorance, deceit, or wrongdoing in transactions.
In this hadith, the Prophet ο·Ί prohibited certain types of dealings that could lead to conflict, enmity, or injustice among Muslims.
Specifically, he prohibited a woman from asking her husband to divorce her co-wife (her sister in religion) in order to monopolise what is in her co-wifeβs share. In other words, she should not seek to take exclusive possession of the husbandβs favours and deprive the other wife of her rightful share.
In Abu Dawudβs narration, it is stated:
βLet her marry; for she only has what has been decreed for her.β
This means she should not make her sisterβs divorce a condition; the other wife may either accept or refuse. The essence is that a woman should not impose such a condition, and she will receive what AllΔh Almighty has decreed for her. Whatever is destined for her will inevitably reach her.

Note: Some scholars reference the above hadith as evidence to refute the condition some women place on their husbands that they should not marry anyone else.
