Going Out to Work/School With Makeup Question: Some women working in hospitals may use cosmetics while at work. Sheikh Ibn Baz rahimahullah: If men can see them, it is not permissible for them to do so but if they do this only among women, then it is permissible. Women have to cover their faces with Niqab before men. Allāh سبحانه وتعالى, “And when you ask (his wives) for anything you want, ask them from behind a screen: that is purer for your hearts and for their hearts.” [Surah Al-Ahzab, 33: 53] Allāh سبحانه وتعالى also says, “And not to reveal their adornment except to their husbands, or their fathers, or their husband’s fathers, or their sons, or their husband’s sons, or their brothers or their brother’s sons.” [Surah An-Nur, 24: 31] The adornment includes the face, hands, feet, and breasts.
