Ruling on Delaying Prayer While Waiting for the White Discharge After Menstruation Question: The questioner asks: If a woman waits for the discharge of the white sign (indicating the end of menstruation) and, because of that, misses two or three obligatory prayers, is she required to make up those missed prayers after attaining purity? Sheikh Yahya Al-Hajoori hafidahullāh: What is obligatory upon her is that if she becomes pure and she knows that her purity is marked by the white discharge, then she should wait for it. However, if she cannot distinguish it clearly (i.e. She may become pure prior to the white discharge), then she should perform the prayer after attaining purity. If her usual sign of purity is the appearance of the white discharge and she waits for it as per her habitβ€”considering that the flow is still ongoingβ€”then there is no blame upon her. But if her usual sign of purity is dryness, and she continues waiting even after attaining that dryness, then she must repent to Allāh, and the time of the obligatory prayer has passed her. In such a case, she should increase her voluntary prayers.
