The Prohibition of Maintaining Contact with a Married Woman and Corrupting Her Relationship with Her Husband Question: A man wished to marry a woman, so he proposed to her, but her father refused. The man loved this woman, and she loved him as well. Later, the woman married someone else, while the man remained unmarried and still loved her. He continues to communicate with her and says, β€œIf you get divorced, I will marry you.” Sheikh Rashād Adh-Dhali'ee αΈ₯afidhahullāh: This man is a mischief-maker. The Prophet ο·Ί said: β€œWhoever corrupts a woman against her husband or a servant against his master is not one of us.” How can he communicate with a married woman and seek to alienate her from her husband? Such conduct is forbidden; in fact, it is a major sin. It constitutes takhbib β€” corrupting a wife and turning her against her husband. Put yourself in that husband’s place: would you accept that someone keeps in touch with your wife and tries to spoil her relationship with you? No reasonable person would accept this. Since he proposed to her through her father and the father refused, he should accept Allāh’s decree and trust that Allāh will grant him something better. What he is doing now is not permissible. It is from Shayṭān, who plays with a person’s heart, distracts him from obedience to Allāh, and makes him attached to something he cannot lawfully attain. To say, β€œIf she gets divorced, I will marry her,” while maintaining contact with her, indicates an intention to corrupt her relationship with her husband so that she may be divorced. This is the work of Shayṭān, who deceives and misleads people.
