Is It Necessary to Remove Hairpins Before Wiping the Head in Ablution? Question: Our sister asks: Is it necessary to remove the hairpins from my head when wiping over it during wudūʼ? Sheikh Ibn Baz rahimahullah: There is no harm in wiping over the head while the hairpins are in place, just as one may wipe over hair that has been dyed with henna or similar substances. Such matters are often difficult to remove. However, if she removes them, there is also no problem. Since removing hairpins, henna, or certain medicinal applications may cause hardship, it is permissible to wipe over them — and praise be to Allāh.
