Validity of Congregational Prayer for Women in a Detached Prayer Hall
Question: The masjid I attend consists of two separate buildingsβone for men and one for women. Between these two buildings is a house owned and rented out by the masjid. The women follow the imam only through the loudspeaker system in their building; however, the sound occasionally cuts off, which interrupts their connection to the prayer. Is the congregational prayer in the womenβs building valid, considering there is no direct visual or auditory connection with the imam or the worshippers behind him?
AllΔh Almighty says: βAnd establish prayer and give zakah and bow with those who bow [in worship and obedience].β [Surat Al-Baqarah, 2:43]
Also, does the rented house located between the two buildings constitute a barrier that separates the congregation, knowing that the entire area is legally owned by the masjid?
Sheikh Najeeb Ash-Sharβabi αΈ₯afidhahullΔh:
Yes, the womenβs congregational prayer in the described masjid is valid. The presence of the house owned by the masjid between the menβs and womenβs prayer halls does not affect the validity of their congregation.
