Is a Husband Required to Provide Hajj for His Wife? Sheikh Ibn Baz rahimahullah said: He is not obligated. The obligation of Hajj is upon the wife herself if she is able. The husband’s ability does not make Hajj obligatory for her if she is unable. Likewise, it is not obligatory upon the husband to perform Hajj on her behalf. However, if the husband chooses to do so and arranges Hajj for her, this is considered an act of kindness and good character. It is recommended as a virtuous deed, but it is not a religious obligation. The essential requirement is upon the wife herself, if she is capable.
