Can a Woman Become Pregnant by a Jinn? Question: A woman believes she is under a spell and feels that a jinn is having intercourse with her. She also feels as though she is pregnant, and she is a virgin. Is it possible for a woman to become pregnant from a jinn? Sheikh Yahya hafidahullah: Scholars differ on whether it is possible for a human woman to conceive from a jinn, due to the inherent differences between them. Allāh, the Exalted, says: “And Allāh has made for you from yourselves mates, and has made for you from your mates sons and grandchildren.” [Al-Nahl: 72] It is not known with certainty whether a child could be born from a jinn or a human, or vice versa. Some ḥadīths mention reproduction between jinn and humans; however, none of them are authentic. For example, the ḥadīth: ((لا تقوم الساعة حتى تكثر فيكم أولاد الجن من نسائكم)). “The Hour will not come until the children of the jinn increase among you from your women” is weak (ḥadīth No. 5776). Al-Albāni classified it as extremely weak, explaining its weakness in both chain of transmission and text. The second view is that reproduction between jinn and humans is possible. This was stated by Ibn Taymiyyah in Majmu‘ Al-Fatāwa (vol. 19, p. 39), who said: “It is possible for a human and a jinn to have intercourse and produce offspring, and this is not uncommon.” This opinion, however, is debatable. The first opinion is considered more correct: that there is no reproduction between beings created from fire and those created from clay, due to the difference in their substance.
