Being married to a student of knowledge Some aspire to marry a student of knowledge thinking that it'll be the best time of their life...The reality is that being married to a student requires much patience and sacrifice. Here is an example from the life of Sheikh Muhammad Ali Adam al-ItyΕ«bi Ψ±ΨΩ…Ω‡ Ψ§Ω„Ω„Ω‡ ΨͺΨΉΨ§Ω„Ω‰ The Shaykh غفر Ψ§Ω„Ω„Ω‡ Ω„Ω‡ would spend his mornings at work teaching at an Islamic institution in Makkah known as "Dar al-Hadith". When he reached home, he was known to take the mid-day nap after Dhuhr. He would pray Asr in his local masjid then go home to work on his books. After praying maghrib, he would get ready to head to the Haram and teach after Esha, 5 days a week. He would work on his books even more on the weekends. Which woman today is ready to be married to someone with this type of daily schedule? One of the Shaykh's sons related a conversation that occurred between his parents at the time of Sh. Muhammad's illness عفا Ψ§Ω„Ω„Ω‡ ΨΉΩ†Ω‡. He said to his wife of 9 kids, "Pardon me, I've exhausted you/tired you out; you were patient with my poverty and busyness." She replied حفظها Ψ§Ω„Ω„Ω‡, "What are you saying?! You've entered us into Jannah in this life before we enter it (in the Hereafter Ψ₯Ω† Ψ΄Ψ§Ψ‘ Ψ§Ω„Ω„Ω‡)". May Allah reward her with good for taking care of our beloved Shaykh throughout his life and looking after his needs so as to serve the Sunnah of our beloved Prophet ο·Ί. May Allah grant the wives of students - those who sacrificed a life of comfort and luxury for a life of knowledge and many many tests - the pleasure of seeing His Face in Paradise, Aameen Yaa Rabb.
