A similar question was put forward to Sheikh Uthaymeen raḥimahullāh, to which he responded:

"There is no need for this (i.e., covering the face) if there are no men around her, as this resembles talathum (covering the mouth and nose), which is prohibited during prayer.
However, if there are men present around her, then there is no harm in covering the face.
Nevertheless, when she prostrates, she should uncover her forehead and nose so that they come into direct contact with the place of prostration.
