The Ruling on Shaving the Beard

Answered by our Shaykh, the ʿAllāmah, the Sincere Advisor, Abū ʿAbdir-Raḥmān Yaḥyā bin ʿAlī al-Ḥajūrī—may Allāh preserve him. Question: Is the one who shaves his beard a fāsiq, and what is the intent of fusūq? Answer: Yes, the one who shaves his beard is a fāsiq due to this action of his, and fisq is disobedience. Allāh ﷻ says about Shayṭān: ﴿فَفَسَقَ عَنْ أَمْرِ رَبِّهِ﴾ “…he disobeyed the command of his Lord.” [Al-Kahf: 50] Meaning: he rebelled/disobeyed. And the one who shaves his beard is a sinner, because the Prophet ﷺ ordered with leaving it to grow, and this one shaved it, so he disobeyed that which he ﷺ ordered with. So he is disobedient to Allāh ﷻ, and upon him is to repent from this action. It is upon him to leave his beard in compliance with the order of the Prophet ﷺ, the one who does not speak out of his own desires.
