Advice for the Groom (1)

If the groom is a student of knowledge, or has been serious about studying his religion, he should not allow his new marriage to completely distract him from continuing upon that path. He should communicate openly with his wife and establish healthy expectations and boundaries so that he can continue seeking knowledge and growing in his religion. It is true that after marriage, especially in the beginning, it may not be as easy to study as much as before. However, even if he can only do a little, he should remain consistent and not abandon it altogether. Small, continuous deeds are beloved to Allah and help preserve a person’s connection to knowledge and guidance.
