O worshippers of Christ, we have a question for you — we seek its answer from those among you who understand. If God was killed by the actions of some people, then they killed Him — so what kind of god is this? Was He pleased with what they did to Him? If so, then glad tidings to them, for they attained His pleasure. But if He was displeased by what they did to Him, then their power overcame Him when they weakened His strength. Was creation left without a God — One who hears and answers whoever calls upon Him? Were the seven heavens emptied when He lay beneath the earth, covered by the dust above Him? Were all the worlds left without a God to govern them, while His hands were nailed? How did the angels abandon Him, instead of aiding Him, when they heard His crying? How could pieces of wood bear the True God when He was fastened upon them? How could iron reach Him, touch Him, and cause Him harm? How could the hands of His enemies reach Him, and strike the back of His head? Did Christ return to life by Himself, or was the One who gave him life another Lord? How astonishing is a grave that enclosed a god; and even more astonishing is a womb that contained Him. He remained there for nine months in darkness, nourished by blood. Then he emerged from the womb as a small infant, weak, opening his mouth for the breast. He ate, then drank, then did what follows from that — is this what you call a god? Exalted is Allah above the falsehood of the Christians; they will all be questioned about what they fabricated. O worshippers of the cross, for what reason is the one who cast it down condemned while it is honoured and kissed? Would sound minds not judge that it should be broken and burned, along with whoever invented such a thing? Since God was forced upon it, and His hands were fastened to it with nails? Then that object is truly cursed — so throw it away; do not kiss it when you see it. The Lord of all creation was humiliated upon it, yet you worship it — so you have become among His enemies. If you honour it because it supposedly carried the Lord of all servants and He was upon it… Then why do you not prostrate to every grave, since the grave contained your Lord within it? So, servant of Christ, wake up! For this is its beginning, and this is its end.
