Don’t be too relaxed or informal with the opposite gender The Arabs used to dislike a man getting involved in women’s disputes, listening to their gossip, or their complaints, because they believed women could tell many lies. Al-Ahnaf ibn Qays said: β€œKeep talk about women and food away from our gatherings.” It is also said: β€œA man remains honourable until he starts seeking out women’s news and involving himself in their mattersβ€”then he lowers himself.” It is also said: β€œWhoever mixes a lot with women becomes soft and loses his sense of manliness.” It is also said: β€œConstantly talking about women weakens a man’s dignity and pride.” It is also said: β€œWhoever associates with immoral women may have his religion, worldly life, character, wealth, knowledge, and health corrupted.” It is also said: β€œThere is no good in a man who sits with women and talks with them a lot; that is the behaviour of idle people.” It is also said: β€œA ruined man is the one who is idle and spends his time attending gatherings of women and listening to their talk.” It is also said: β€œA sign of losing one’s dignity is a man engaging in women’s conversations or following their news.” It is also said: β€œA true man is one who is busy with himself; as for the one who interferes in women’s matters, he is unreliable.” It is also said: β€œIf you see a man constantly following women’s talk, know that he is lacking in intellect and has lost his dignity.”
