Men are twice as much as women in five matters In his explanation of Sunan Abī Dāwūd [(23/334) according to Shāmilah], Sheikh ’AbdulMuḥsin Al-’Abbād ḥafidhahullāh said: “... It is established in the Qur'ān and Sunnah that women are half as much as men in five matters: ▪️The first: Inheritance; the male has the same share as two females. ▪️The second: Manumission; a man has to free two women in order to save himself from the Hellfire. ▪️The third: Witness testimony; two female witnesses equate to one male witness. ▪️The fourth: Blood money; a woman's Diyah (blood money/ ransom) is half of a man's. ▪️The fifth: ‘Aqīqah; the boy has two sheeps slaughtered on his behalf while a girl has one.
