How Zina Affects One's Family Question: Some colleagues said: Whoever commits zina will be punished through his family or descendants. Some asked: Why should someone else be punished for what he himself committed? He is the one who did it. Sheikh Najeeb Ash-Shar'abi: Yes, a person who commits zina may be affected in his family. It is attributed to Imam Ash-Shafiโ€˜i (may Allah have mercy on him) that he said: ุนููู‘ููˆุง ุชูŽุนููู‘ูŽ ู†ุณุงุคูƒู… Stay chaste and your women will remain chaste from what is forbidden, and avoid everything that is not appropriate for a Muslim. Zina is a debt; if you lend it, repayment will come to your householdโ€”so know this well. O you who violate the sanctity of men and cut off bonds of love, you will live dishonoured. If you were truly noble of honourable lineage, you would not violate the sanctity of a Muslim. Whoever commits zina, it will be done to him in returnโ€”even if only against his own wall. So if you are intelligent, then understand this. Shaykh Al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him) mentioned a similar meaning. He said in Al-Fatawa Al-Kubra (3/183โ€“184): When a man commits zina with other peopleโ€™s women, this may lead his own wife to allow others to do the same to her, as is often seen in reality. He also said that a man who commits zina with othersโ€™ women may end up pushing his own wife toward zina in retaliation or anger. He further said that if a man becomes addicted to zina, he will no longer satisfy his wife properly, and she may fall into wrongdoing due to unmet needs. He also said that when a man violates the honour of other menโ€™s women, people may respond in kind with his own women, as is often the case. Thus, the wife of a habitual adulterer may be affected in many ways. Even if she does not commit physical zina, she may commit it with her eyes or other means. In many cases, it is rare to find complete purity in the wives of persistent adulterers who do not repent. A womanโ€™s nature may be influenced when she sees her husband going after other women. I also have a lecture titled: โ€œSome of the Punishments of Zina,โ€ in which I mentioned this among the consequences of zinaโ€”please refer to it. Source: https://t.me/qweasdzxcmnblkjpoik/6131
