When the Heart Is Strong, the Body Follows Sheikh Abdurrazaq Al-Badr hafidhahullah said: Now there is an important matter related to prayer: regularly maintaining the five daily prayers in the houses of Allah (the masjids). This depends on the strength of the heart in honouring and valuing the prayer. The heart has strength, and because of that you may find the body weak, yet when the call to prayer is made, this weak body still gets up. You may see an elderly man looking for his walking stick, standing up with determination, leaning on it, and slowly making his way to the masjid. The steps to the masjid take him time because his body is weak, but his heart is strong. On the other hand, you may see a young man whose body is very strong and who has no physical problems. Yet because his heart is weak, when the call to prayer is made he remains in his house, or in his shop, or at work, or busy with entertainment and play. The call to prayer is made while his body is strongβ€”but what is the problem? His heart is weak. Listen to what one of the Salaf said about this matter. In a beautiful narration reported by Al-Bayhaqi in ShuΚΏab Al-Iman, Shumayt ibn Ajlan (may Allah have mercy on him) said: β€œIndeed, Allah placed the strength of the believer in his heart, and He did not place it in his limbs.” The strength related to worship and performing acts of worship is a strength that Allah placed in the believer’s heart, not in his body. β€œDo you not see the sheikh?”—meaning the old person. β€œDo you not see how the sheikh, though weak, fasts during the hottest part of the day and stands in prayer at night, while young people are unable to do that?” And what is the reason for this? It is the strength that Allah placed in his heart. Source: https://t.me/Menzbenefits/303
