Six Signs of a Foolish Man Sheikh ’Abdurrazzāq Al-Badr ḥafidhahullāh said: All of these are signs of foolishness—signs of a foolish man. Among the characteristics by which he is recognised are the following: 1⃣. The first sign is hasty speech: he does not deliberate, and whatever he is asked about, he answers quickly, without verification or careful consideration. 2⃣. The second is abandoning careful judgment, for due to his foolishness he lacks composure and is constantly rushed and impulsive. 2⃣. The third is excessive laughter, that is, frequent loud laughter and boisterous mirth. 4⃣. The fourth is constant glancing about; while walking, he repeatedly looks to the right and left with quick, restless movements. 5⃣. The fifth is speaking ill of the righteous. This is among the signs of foolishness, for the righteous are to be benefited from and mentioned only with good, as they are virtuous. If a person speaks of the righteous with malice, blame, or disparagement, this is a sign of foolishness. 6⃣. The sixth is associating with the wicked. These, then, are six signs of a foolish man.
