Is the husband allowed to prevent his wife from working OUTSIDE if he supports her financially?
Question: I am a teacher and I have married a teacher four years ago. We have had a child and during this period, we have lived in troubles because of her family, relatives and friends. I see no way out except preventing her from work; is it permissible for me to do so?
Sheikh Ibn BΔz raαΈ₯imahullΔh:
It is permissible for you to prevent your wife from work and to tell her to stay at home to raise your children and take care of your matters. She has no right to work outside the home except with your permission and satisfaction if she takes care of the household because you are her guardian as mentioned in SΕ«rah An-NisΔ' [34]:
