9: Plucking the Eyebrows (An-Nams) Narrated from ’Abdullāh ibn Masʿūd: “May Allāh curse the women who practice tattooing and those who get tattooed, the pluckers of eyebrows (An-Nāmiṣ), those who have their eyebrows plucked (Al-Mutannamiṣāt), and those who alter the creation of Allāh for beauty.” [Reported by Al-Bukhārī 5931, Muslim 2125] Explanation: Al-Mutannamiṣah is the one who requests the plucking, and An-Nāmiṣah is the one who performs it. An-Nams refers to removing eyebrow hair to raise or shape them. [Al-Fat-ḥ Al-Bārī 13/454]
